FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE!!
Letter from SRBEAT
Board Members

Bald
Eagle Festival is Cancelled for 2010!!
October
14th, 2009
To All
Who Support Skagit River Bald Eagle Awareness Team,
SRBEAT
wishes to thank everyone for your past support & report on the changes that we
have been forced to make in these difficult financial times. As of October 6th,
the Board had to make the decision to cancel the Bald Eagle Festival. Last season we used our reserves to meet all of our obligations to the festival
& the Skagit River Bald Eagle Interpretive Center. Funding has been
decreasing as it has for most non-profit organizations.
The
decision for the future is to keep the
Interpretive
Center open for a total of 11
weeks, three days a week, to provide information, education, & a place to get
cars off the road. Our hope is to use all of our financial support to open
the IC doors & to incorporate some of the festival attractions such as: Increase Sardis
Raptor shows, Bus Tours, & continue with our School Programs, Interpretive
Walks, & increase the number of speakers.
Please
let us know if you can support this environmental educational program in any
way. SRBEAT will need volunteers for a variety of positions, speakers for
weekends & and we will need our financial supporters to help provide a quality
program. The Interpretive Center is scheduled to open in December until
President’s Day in February. This has been difficult for the SRBEAT Board
to close the door on an event that has brought tourism into the Skagit Valley
for the past 22 winters but we stand together to create a new future.

President
